Inspiring movie nights

Updated: May 7, 2023

I remember those movie nights when I was a preteen. With my friends, we would pick up 2 or 3 movies from the video club (yes that's how old I am...), we would open up the sofa-bed in the living room, curl up under a huge blanket and watch movies we most of the time had already seen while eating candies and popcorn. I wonder what this would look like today, now that we are adults with streaming services...

COMMUNITY MOVIE NIGHTS

During the month of May, Calmness Hotline invites you to their Dance Documentary Nights happening on Tuesdays evenings. This will be a great opportunity to consolidate the Pole and Aerial Community that the studio is slowly building. Come meet your classmates outside of the regular training context. There won't be any sofa-bed, but I'm pretty sure you can find a hammock on the side to cozy up in for the duration of the viewing. But don't hesitate to bring your yoga mat & a pillow as there will be maybe just 2-3 hammocks hanged.

LEARN ABOUT THE DANCE WORLD

Because what links us all together is movement, the documentaries that will be shown are dance or movement documentaries. This is a beautiful way to learn and explore more about the dance world and the communities that are built around the passion of movement.

I personally love documentaries, they have you reflect on different perspectives and analyse the patterns you may have in your life. But what's even more interesting, is the discussions that may come from learning and seeing new information. This is why you'll be invited to discuss and comment on the movie. Maybe other people will have understand something different and it'll be a great opportunity to share point of views on the different topics.

TAKE SOME TIME TO MOVE

After watching passionate people live their best dancing life, I always feel a urge to move and test new things with my body. After having meaningful conversation around the documentaries, you're welcome to take some time to explore new ways to dance, move, or just be aware of your body. This isn't a workshop, so there's no need to try crazy tricks, but when you're feeling inspired you should be allowed to take the space you need to create something, even small. Let your renewed energy guide your moves.

Dance Documentary Nights will happen on Tuesday May 16th, 23rd and 30th, from 8:15 PM to 10:15 PM more or less. Come meet other passionate dancers and exchange while learning about all kinds of movement in this world.
